In order to use the Step app you need to either have a device PIN (passcode) set up on your phone, face scan, or fingerprint authentication. This is to keep your account secure and make sure only you can access your money!
You can set up your PIN/passcode, FaceID or fingerprint in your phone's settings.
You'll be prompted to use this when you're trying to activate your card, add or send money, and change your account details. If you're being asked for a PIN while doing anything within our app, it's asking for your phone's PIN/passcode!
