Once you create your Step account, you'll need a parent or guardian to sponsor your account. They might have some questions or need a little convincing, so here are some great points to hit during your conversation:

1. Step is safe and secure

We're a bank and credit card built specifically for teens. Your accounts are insured up to $250,000 and every one of your card purchases is protected by Visa Fraud Protection, so you're never responsible for charges you didn't authorize.

2. No fees!

No monthly fees, no overdraft fees, no monthly payments, no minimum fees - ever.

3. You build credit early

Using your Step Card allows you to start building credit before you even graduate high school! This will be a huge advantage later on when you're applying for new credit cards, loans, or renting your first apartment. We also never share negative credit.

4. It's easy for sponsors

Sponsoring an account takes only a few minutes, and it's easy for parents to set up recurring payments for things like allowance, lunch money, or anything else you might need. No more bugging your parents for allowance...

5. Get started with good money habits

High school is a great time to start building good financial habits. Step makes it easy for teens to learn to budget, develop independence and responsibility with their money, purchase safely online, and begin to understand and navigate financial systems. Get ahead and set yourself up for financial success in the future.
